podcasts

As an experienced radio journalist I know a lot about the intimacy and the immediacy of audio formats. As a producer and editor on Woman’s Hour with Jenni Murray and the Radio Programme with Laurie Taylor, I was lucky enough to work with real experts - both behind the mic and behind-the-scenes. Building on this knowledge and expertise I now produce and present podcasts for organisations. I can make them in studio conditions. But I really enjoy getting out on location to bring the topic to life.  Check out the first two episodes of my latest podcast series Dining with Diabetes.

print

At Diabetes UK, I transformed the tired and inconsistent format of the charity’s membership magazine into this bright, contemporary and member-led publication. And in many of my previous roles I’ve also been responsible for improving the print experience - whether it’s free, health information, internal training materials or commercial weight-loss content.  In spite of a modest budget and declining advertising revenue, Balance was a finalist in the ‘specialist editor’ category of the prestigious BSME awards 2019.

web

Understanding customer journeys online is vital to developing compelling and engaging functionality and content. Diabetes & Me started life as a bookmark feature. Spotting its wider potential, my team and I developed an efficient and effective content ‘triage’ experience, that has visitors spending up to 4 times longer on the site and visiting 3 times as many pages as those that come via the usual navigation.  I presented these results in 2019 just before we reached the finals of the Digital Innovation category of the Third Sector Awards last year.

video

When you need to get consistent messages and important information out to a large group of key internal stakeholders, a well-scripted and produced video can make a real difference. It works far better than a series of cascaded messages. Everyone hear’s the same information, delivered in the same way.  And they can revisit it when they want on the intranet. At Weight Watchers I scripted and produced a number of videos for our 2000 WW Leaders who needed to understand each new innovation first. Here’s how we introduced the latest iteration of ProPoints back in 2013.

animation

Medical device company Technomed asked me to create a new explainer animation for a complex, technical product and service they were launching to GPs. Working with a design agency I researched, scripted and created the storyboard for the heart-monitoring device, ECG On Demand. And ultimately provided the narration too. There were lots of details to get right. Lots of ideas and opinions proffered. And lots of stakeholders to keep happy. The animation is still being used on the Technomed website today.

app

At Nuffield Health I was responsible for improving and embedding an innovative, digital health platform across the brand’s range of products and services. Called HealthScore, it was designed to provide customers with personalised guidance and real-time well-being results,  based on their lifestyle choices, including any interventions at Nuffield Health.   With my team there, we were able to transform HealthScore’s original,  dated look and feel - and a complicated user experience - into a more contemporary and streamlined journey across web and app. The app was nominated for the AXA PPP Health Tech and You awards 2015.
